Wear Valley Woodturners were very pleased to welcome Martin Pidgen to our November meeting.
Martin is a very experienced production turner and produced in quick succession, bottle stopper, light pull, pot/bottle holder and triangular dish. The holding techniques used included using a Jacobs Chuck with wooden dowel in the head stock to hold items like the bottle stopper and light pull which enabled rapid turning of repeat items . In addition used wooden jam chucks as required.
Martin demonstrated the versatility of the small skew chisel to turn the required detail and used a formidable home made scraper for the base of the pot holder. Thanks Martin for a very interesting night!
